Unlike their title suggests, StateRecords is not run by any state. Our research suggests that StateRecords.org is a subsidiary of InfoPay Inc., a Boston-based data broker that's privately owned. StateRecords.org gains its credibility by looking like a government-run entity. The website uses a similar database to that of all InfoPay-based subsidiaries, in that it displays name, age, address, and relatives. Keep in mind that most of this information is behind a paywall, meaning that you'll need to spend money to see detailed records–even your own.
To remove your information from StateRecords, go to their opt-out form here. To navigate to this page on their website, click on the link in their footer labeled, “Do Not Sell My Info”.
On the form, fill out your full name, the state you reside in, and your current city. If you’re in California and would like to submit a CCPA request, fill out here.
A results page will be displayed for you after you enter your information. You'll see records of people similar to you. Scroll and find your name and identity, and check the box in your row under “Select Record”. We recommend selecting multiple records to ensure that you're deleted. After you’ve selected your profile, now hit the button “Remove Data” in the column “Request to Remove my Data”.
Enter your email address and add any additional comments you wish to bring to their attention. We don't recommend writing anything. The less attention you bring to yourself the better. After you enter your email address, check the box “I’m not a robot” and submit your request.
Go to your email inbox and search for an email from InfoTracer. Click on the confirmation link within the email to complete the opt-out process. It can take some time for InfoTracer.com to completely remove your profile, so check back periodically to ensure your profile has been removed.
